Play Something New Demo Night - Spokes
Play Something New with us every Friday night!
Our Play Something New board game demo nights are a perfect opportunity to relax, learn a new game, and get involved with our ever-growing board gaming community! We will be featuring and teaching a different game each week.
Here’s How It Works:
Sign up for a Demo: We will have several tables of game demos for our Featured Game running from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Demo experiences will last around 30 minutes and will go over the basic rules of the game and several turns of play. Games may be limited to a certain number of turns/ rounds to allow for everyone to get a seat at a demo throughout the night. Demo sign-ups will cut off at 8:30.
Sale and Raffles: Our Featured Game will be on sale for 20% off during the event for anyone who participated in a demo! In addition, some open copies of the game will be raffled off once the demos are finished for the night.
Open Board Gaming: In addition to the demo…..hang out and play! Tables will be available for open board gaming until our Game Room closes up (around 9:45 pm). Bring some games with you to play or get in on a game with other board gamers. In addition, we will have some open copies of popular board games on hand to try during the event!
Cost: The cost for the event is a $10 “Credit Swap” (you’ll get $10 in store credit back with your entry!)
Tonight’s Featured Game: Spokes
"Spokes is a fast-paced cycling game in which players create cycle paths by swapping spokes from their wheels for those on the board, creating routes and changing options along everyone's routes, resulting in fast and dynamic play.
Each turn, players select a spoke on their wheel to swap for one on the track, then travel down a contiguously-colored track containing the spoke they placed. As the game continues, players build, share, and dismantle routes, managing the selection of spokes at their disposal for efficient cycling on the best routes. Play goes around the table until one player has completed three laps and wins.
Players can draft other bikes and use the reserved energy to pull ahead at opportune moments. This helps to recreate the excitement and theme of cycling, with the best players knowing when to sit behind other players, use their routes, and overtake them at the last minute for the win!"- from BGG
